Winter is definitely here and it’s time to re-evaluate your skin care. During the winter months, the harsh weather and dry indoor heat will make your skin much drier, irritated ,and flaky. When the temperatures and humidity drop, even oily skin can become dehydrated. I usually recommend to my clients to get an Aqua or Sol Facial before the cold weather really sets in. Simple adjustments to the products you use at home will really help.
The cleanser and moisturizer that you use in the warmest, humid months, won’t be nourishing or soothing enough for your skin at this time of the year so switch to a more emollient, soothing cleanser. You’ll also need to use an exfoliant regularly to slough away dry flaky skin and then use an organic moisturizer, liberally everyday.
Also, I’m a big fan of toners and mists to hydrate and tone your skin before you apply your moisturizer. Invest in a humidifier to place in your bedroom to counteract the dry heat indoors. Then spray toner and slather on an organic night cream before you go to bed. Your lips need extra care too. Use a little sugar in coconut oil and slough away the dry skin, then apply a good lip balm several times a day. Especially when you go outside in the cold.
